Fitness to Participate
Practice clinicians do not issue letters stating patients are fit to take part in activities such as running a marathon, cycle races, flying/gliding, getting a tattoo or cosmetic procedure etc. This is because GPs are not indemnified to carry out these specialist assessments and, as this type of work is not contractual, GPs have no obilgation to complete these requests. We can offer you a medical summary which might assist you to get your report or form completed elsewhere.

Chargeable Services
From time to time, GPs are asked by patients to carry out work for patients which does not form part of their General Medical Services provision. As such, this work will attract a fee which is often payable by the patient. Examples of this may be HGV Medicals, letters or reports in support of medical insurance claims or Power of Attorney applications. The receptionist or GP will advise you when this is the case and we can give you an estimate of any costs involved.
Private, non contracutal forms which might be completed at the discretion of the GPs, depending on NHS demand and staffing, are:
- Private Medical Examinations (HGV, PSV Etc)
- Holiday Cancellation Insurance Claim
